About Josh
I love building businesses, cool simple apps, websites, & services that solve challenging problems, bring businesses closer to customers, and help people focus on what they love instead of what they have to do in order to achieve their dreams.
I have experience implementing social software solutions, building engineering teams, and growing online communities for both large and small brands.
I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Computer Engineering and then worked at Microsoft, where I owned the development of software testing solutions and later led the multidisciplinary team responsible for development and management of online communities for Microsoft developer tools.
From there, I joined Telligent so I could work more directly on social software including customer profiles, activity feeds, blogs, wikis, & forums. At Telligent I ran the product development teams as the VP of Engineering and helped to grow them by implementing a stable process that introduced software test and technical program management (PM) disciplines to augment their developer lifecycle. In my tenure there, I wrote plans, specifications and roadmaps and shipped several releases including 1.0 releases of Telligent’s Enterprise and Analytics products.
In January 2011, I chose to leave in order to focus on my dream of becoming an entrepreneur and helping individuals and businesses focus on the parts of life and work that are most critical to their success.
I believe that a strong customer connection is critical for long term success for any business, and as such, I’ve chosen to take on limited engagements with businesses and teams who are looking to improve their real world customer connection, online operations and social network integrations.
